Foreign Recoveries
The link below provides access to an interactive map for VARC banded birds recovered elsewhere. The map allows adjustment for the desired scale and has map layers to help hide or show different layers such as rehabbed raptor recoveries for Orphaned Wildlife (O.W.L.).
Colour legend: Blue signifies a bird recovered alive while black signifies a bird found dead, and any other colour is explained in the point text.
The farthest distance for recovery is in California just south of San Francisco, where a dead Cedar Waxwing and a living Swainson’s Thrush were both found, approximately 1,320 kilometres from the VARC Banding Station at Colony Farm Regional Park.
