VARC field trip visits are a great way to get students out of the classroom!

Thanks again Derek for a great session. It really is great to have someone so passionate about birds sharing their enthusiasm and knowledge with the students!Douglas B. Ransome, Ph.D., R.P.Bio.

The Vancouver Avian Research Centre (VARC) is a Registered Canadian Charity dedicated to wild bird research, conservation and education. It conducts bird monitoring and banding and provides public outreach to raise awareness of environmental issues particularly as they relate to breeding and migratory birds.

In support of VARC’s mandate to raise awareness of environmental issues, VARC encourages the involvement of college and university students in a number of ways:

• Site visits – see details below
• Enrollment in our Bird Monitoring and Banding and Bird Identification Workshops
• Utilization of our data and field station for research projects (contact VARC directly) – see UBC  data analysis project
